Position description
The Center of Applications of Mathematics and Statistics to Economics (CAMSE) of the economics department at UC Berkeley invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in microeconomic theory. CAMSE promotes research in theoretical economics and econometrics, with a focus on fundamental and basic research, as well as applications to normative and policy questions. The Center is looking for a postdoctoral candidate who will interact with faculty and students working on game theory, mechanism design, general equilibrium theory, decision theory and other active areas of economic theory. This position comes with freedom to do research in any area of economic theory, and with an opportunity to collaborate with Berkeley faculty and students. The postdoctoral scholar will also have access to a broad and vibrant interdisciplinary atmosphere at UC Berkeley, with potential collaborations with scholars in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. CAMSE faculty organize a weekly workshop, as well as informal research meetings, that welcome the participation of the CASME postdoctoral scholar.
Job Responsibilities:
The postdoctoral scholar is expected to participate in seminars and regular research meetings. The scholar is expected to independently develop their own research portfolio, as well as collaborating on mentored research with a Berkeley faculty member. If the postdoctoral scholar would like the opportunity to teach, they may apply to the open lecturer pool in the department. Any teaching performed will be under a separate lecturer appointment.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
PhD (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a PhD (or equivalent international degree) program
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
PhD (or equivalent international degree). No more than three years of post-degree research experience by start date.
Preferred qualifications
Experience in general equilibrium theory, decision theory and other active areas of economic theory.
