My primary research interests concentrate on FOURIER and ULTRAFAST OPTICS, PHOTONIC CRYSTALS and PLASMONICS. This includes the theoretical description and the experimental characterization of the temporal and spectral response of advanced planar lightwave circuits, photonic crystals, and plasmonic waveguides. In addition, I am interested in the fundaments of Quantum Mechanics (Quantum Optics), in particular, in the study of interference with non-overlapping ultrafast pulses using extreme arrayed waveguide grating spectrometers and direct space-to-time pulse shapers
