At the bench, my research has focused on epigenetic regulation of gene expression. My Ph.D thesis research (University of Wisconsin – Madison, 2011) looked at dynamic regulation of gene expression in yeast (S. cerevisiae) responding to variable environments. Specifically, I studied the interaction between nucleosome position, transcription factor binding and mRNA abundance genome-wide as cells responded to oxidative damage. Previous research projects have investigated similar themes, such as the change in position and types of histone modifications genome-wide during stem cell differentiation.
