I am a plant ecologist interested primarily in linkages between community and ecosystem ecology. I am also interested in the influence of natural disturbances, particularly wildfire and drought, on ecological systems and the influence of climate change on future disturbance regimes. Research in my lab uses a “bottom-up” approach to ecology, integrating population and community scale processes to understand ecosystem and regional dynamics. Our integrative research approach uses laboratory and field-based studies to investigate the response of communities and ecosystems to environmental change and disturbance.
