I study the evolutionary ecology of marine species (mainly reef fish). Much of my research focuses on understanding how and why population sizes fluctuate. I also study the evolutionary forces that shape characteristics of organisms (e.g., size, behavior, etc.). I am particularly interested in understanding natural selection in wild populations, and how an evolutionarily-informed approach to studying population dynamics can help manage populations in the face of environmental change. My research combines detailed, field studies of species' demography with quantitative genetic analyses and mathematical models of population dynamics.
