Expertise: Plant virus research specializing in viruses infecting fruit trees and other woody species. Development of sensitive detection systems. Characterization at the molecular level of etiological agents not previously associated with diseases. Taxonomy of the genus Ilarvirus. RT- PCR, Real time PCR, Sanger sequencing, and Next Generation Sequencing are used in these laboratory investigations. Screening budwood sources for the presence of viruses of economic importance to peach growers in the southeastern US using ELISA.
