Molecular ecology, population genetics and conservation biology. My particular interest is to apply the standard population genetics theory so that it can be applied for conservation of a species. Specifically, I use molecular DNA techniques in conjunction with animals’ life history and ecological data to determine patterns of gene flow and levels of genetic diversity intra- and inter-populations (particularly in mammals and marine and freshwater fishes), and characterize the population genetic structure of species with low/moderate dispersal capabilities (i.e. rodents, small mammals). I also use these techniques to investigate mating strategies of animals (e.g. small mammals) and determine stock structure of marine fishes
