Elaine’s research speciality is the psychology of physical activity and specifically understanding motivation for behaviour change. The World Health Organisation recognises physical inactivity as a global public health problem and has placed increasing physical activity participation as a priority. Understanding the motivational forces behind physical activity behaviour change is imperative for knowing how to encourage individuals to adopt and maintain physically active lifestyles. In line with this, Elaine is currently evaluating the effects of a physical activity promotional campaign.
