Structural geology and tectonics. In particular, I am interested in the links between lithospheric rheology and plate tectonics. I am also interested in the long-term and transient deformation in strike-slip plate boundaries, formation and evolution of the oceanic lithosphere, tectonic evolution of metamorphic terranes, as well as regional tectonics of eastern Mediterranean and southwest Pacific.
In my research, I use a multidisciplinary approach combining structural geology with petrology, geochemistry, and geochronology. I combine field-based structural analysis techniques with results from various microanalytical techniques, such Scanning Electron Microscopy-based Electron BackScatter Diffraction (SEM-EBSD), X-ray Computed Tomography (XRCT), Electron Probe MicroAnalysis (EPMA), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).
