Expertise: My current research interests focus on the study of western herbal medicinal preparations such as Artemesia vulgaris (mugwort) and rose petal tinctures. My students and I examine how the menstruum and methods of preparation influence the concentration of components and levels of activity. We are particularly interested in and studying the following:

Cell growth and antibacterial activity
Antioxidant and radical scavenging activity
Enzyme kinetics including xanthine oxidase inhibition
HPLC fractionation to identify active components
HPLC analysis of samples differing in levels of activity
