We are seeking a highly motivated Early Stage Researcher (PhD student) to join the project “Seismic full-waveform inversion with application to groundwater exploration”, funded by the Academy of Finland. This project aims to utilize computational modeling and actual imaging data to characterize fluid content stored in a porous material. The project consists of both the development of mathematical modeling and designing and building laboratory scale measurement systems. Thus, prior experience and knowledge from wave propagation modeling and/or related inverse problems and/or engineering design of practical measurements are required.
A person to be appointed to this position will work in the Computational Physics and Inverse Problems research group (see, http://www.uef.fi/inverse, for more details). The group is affiliated with the Centre of Excellence of Inverse Modeling and Imaging (Academy of Finland).
