Description: One NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in Dr. Jiukuan Hao’s laboratory in Department of Pharmacological & Pharmaceutical Sciences at College of Pharmacy, University of Houston. The research in the laboratory focuses on the roles of the blood brain barrier in pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases including stroke using both in vitro model and in vivo mouse model. The projects are highly interdisciplinary, utilizing multiple approaches including neuron- and endothelial-specific molecular genetics (i.e., transgenic, knockout mice and viral transduction, biochemistry, cell-death assays, pharmacological manipulation, immunocytochemistry, histology, and behavioral tests, etc.
Requirements: * Ph.D. or equivalent degree (preferably a recently received degree) in neuroscience, neurobiology, physiology, cell/molecular biology, or a related field. * Strong experimental skills to conduct research using cell and animal models. Candidates should have a strong background in cellular and molecular neuroscience, and must have hands-on experience in mouse handling, transgenic mouse model, basic molecular biology (such as sub-cloning, qRT-PCR), immunofluorescent chemistry, histology, fluorescent microscopy. Experience in the field of stroke research is preferred, but not required. * Excellent oral and written communication skills and capabilities to work independently and in a team. Competitive compensation and benefits will be offered. Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least two references to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
