Successful candidate will design and perform biochemical experiments and bioinformatic analysis towards understanding a novel type of RNA editing in the protozoan parasite, Trypanosoma brucei. Techniques include cell culture and generation of transgenic lines, co-immunoprecipitation, RNA immunoprecipitation, qRT-PCR, in vitro protein-RNA interactions, analysis of high throughput sequences using R. Candidate will meet with PI on a weekly basis (or more frequently if needed) to discuss data and future plans. Candidate will present data at lab meetings and in both poster and oral formats at local and national meetings, and will write and submit manuscripts. Candidate is also expected to participate in training laboratory personnel.
