The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for one or more Research Training Group Postdoctoral Scholar positions, with an expected start date of July 1, 2020.
These positions are partially supported by an NSF Research Training Group grant focused on arithmetic geometry and number theory. The appointment term is at full-time for three years, with an annual salary of $65,384. Duties include participating in the research group activities, such as taking an active part in seminars and research related events of the group, teaching with a reduced teaching load of one course per semester, and conducting research. Please note that the teaching component of this position is conducted under the lecturer title. The primary research element is funded by the NSF grant in the postdoctoral scholar title.
Applicants must have completed all PhD (or equivalent international degree) requirements, except the dissertation, by the time of application.
Required Qualifications (by start date):
A PhD (or equivalent international degree) is required by the start date of the job. The NSF requires that applicants be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States, its territories, or possessions.
A PhD (or equivalent international degree) in Pure Mathematics. Candidates whose research contributes to specific fields of arithmetic geometry and number theory are strongly preferred.
