American University of Sharjah  (AUS) in the United Arab Emirates invites applications for a full-time, rolling-track faculty position in biology, starting Fall 2025. The successful candidate is expected to instruct general biology courses in addition to advanced courses related to their area of expertise. The successful candidate is expected to instruct courses at the undergraduate level as well as graduate courses in the PhD in Biosciences and Bioengineering (PhD-BSBE) program.

As an American-accredited institution in the liberal arts tradition, we seek candidates with a passion for both teaching and research in any area of specialization to join our faculty. Candidates should indicate any interests, qualifications or experiences related to program development. Successful candidates must have professional experience reflecting strong commitments to teaching, research and service.

Required Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Biology (or a related field)
  • An established record in teaching, research and service, or a clear ability to establish such a record at AUS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching introductory biology courses
  • Experience in teaching courses in health and medical sciences with emphasis on cancer biology and/or nutrition
  • Experience in conducting research in the aforementioned areas of expertise

The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences (BCE) offers bachelor of science degrees in biology, chemistry and environmental sciences, and minors in biology, environmental sciences and environmental policy. BCE currently has 16 full-time faculty members, and 10 full-time laboratory staff actively engaged in research within the three disciplines.
