The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology in the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science at Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) seeks to fill a faculty position in Computational Biology at an open professorial rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor) starting in Fall 2022.
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) at Stevens is known for its legacy of fostering and nurturing groundbreaking, world-class innovation. CCB was among the first to offer an undergraduate Chemical Biology degree in 1978 and today remains at the forefront of chemical biology with our internationally recognized faculty in the healthcare domain as well as with professionally diverse experiences in academia and industry. The department currently consists of 17 full time faculty members, approximately 145 undergraduates, 40 Masters, and 25 doctoral students. The CCB faculty is active in research and has brought in $4.2M research funding from NIH and NSF during the academic year of 2020-2021.

Per this strategic vision, we would like to build computational biology research portfolio in conjunction with our current strengths in computational chemistry, drug discovery, and cancer research.
The ideal candidate is expected to build a strong externally-funded research program aimed at generating new insights into compelling biological problems by developing and using data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence tools. The candidate is also expected to develop and deliver innovative undergraduate and graduate courses. This position requires the candidate to have a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or related fields.
