Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. A reasonable estimate for a full-time position is $53,100-$61,300.

Percent time: 75

Anticipated start: June 2025

Position duration: Initial appointment is a one-year term; reappointment is dependent upon performance, programmatic need, and budget.

Position description

Ti Lab, led by Assistant Professor Grigory Tikhomirov, is part of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department at the University of California, Berkeley. The lab focuses on designing and fabricating devices with atomic precision by combining rational top-down engineering and bottom-up biomolecular assembly. Their research aims to develop self-assembling electronic devices, nanoscale robotics, and programmable molecular machines to revolutionize fields such as medicine, engineering, and information technology.

This position includes synthesis of DNA origami nanostructures for immune activation of various cell types. Characterization of the nanostructures using gel electrophoresis, atomic force microscopy, and electron microscopy.

This project will also involve testing above nanostructures in cell media and analyzing cellular responses using a suite of molecular biology techniques. This position will contribute to preparing the results of the research for publication, engage in lab meetings, and will be mentored directly by the lab PI.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree or enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (or equivalent international program)

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree

Preferred qualifications
Bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biology and immunology.
Familiar with DNA origami syntheis and characteriaxation techniques, as well as skilled in cell culture.
