The Ph.D. in Physics program at Khalifa University supports the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 plan by providing internationally excellent education and student experience in physics and producing highly skilled scientists.

This program provides robust and diverse curricula that give students in-depth, up-to-date knowledge at an advanced, state-of-the-art level and the necessary professional skills and competence to plan, direct, conduct, and interpret scientific research. Additionally, the program builds on Khalifa University’s internationally leading research activity in science, engineering, and medicine.

The research conducted at the physics department covers a wide range of topics, including optics and photonics, astrophysics/astroparticle physics, medical physics, soft matter/materials physics, atomic & molecular physics, and nuclear & particle physics.

The Ph.D. positions are funded by several competitive Ph.D. scholarship opportunities with generous stipends.

Requirements:

  • BSc with a minimum CGPA of5 out of 4.0 or equivalent for Bachelor’s to Ph.D. direct admission.
  • Or MSc with a minimum CGPA of25 out of 4.0 or equivalent for Master’s to Ph.D. admission.
  • iBT TOEFL score of 91, or IELTS score of 5, or 1550 EmSAT English score.
  • A minimum quantitative score of 150 in the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
  • A minimum of two referee recommendations (provided via an online form).
  • Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words).
  • Research statement (500-1,000 words).
