The University at Buffalo’s Upward Bound Program is seeking Instructors for its 2018 Academic Intensive Summer Program, to instruct high school courses in: Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. The program will take place on UB’s North Campus; July 9th – August 2, 2018.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Additionally, demonstrated experience teaching new, innovative, and/or project based curricula, having a vast knowledge of learning styles/strategies, and the ability to work with a diverse population of high school students, with a student-centered approach, is highly desirable. Familiarity with TRIO programs is also highly desired, but not required.
Candidates must be able to teach at least (1) of the following mixed-ability classes:
Mathematics: algebra, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus, or calculus; Science: environmental science, earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, or organic chemistry; English Language Arts (1- 4); and/or SAT/ACT Prep.
A Master’s degree, with NYS certification in the teaching discipline being taught, is strongly preferred.
Ability to stand, sit and speak effectively for two to three hours per day.
Salary Range $36,562.50 full-time annual
8 – 16 hours per week.
