This full time, faculty position begins in August 2019 with a 30 credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the redevelopment and growth of the NRM degree program and curriculum. Responsibilities for program redevelopment will be substantial at the outset, and accompanied by release time for administrative work to meet established goals and timeframe. This faculty position will teach a variety of Natural Resources courses supporting the NRM program at the Leadville campus, which may include, but not be limited to: Natural Resource Restoration, Environmental Policies, Ecosystem Management, Environmental Issues, Wetlands Monitoring, Reclamation Site Monitoring, and Cooperative Education. Candidates with ability and credentials to teach in disciplines including Geology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or Soil Science may be given extra consideration.
Teaching schedules are subject to needs of the program, and may include daytime, evening, or weekend classroom and field experiences.
While teaching responsibilities comprise a majority of the anticipated workload, additional responsibilities may include: leading curriculum development efforts and special projects for the program; assisting with budget, purchasing, inventory, and equipment upkeep for program; involvement with program and course scheduling; assisting with recruiting, hiring, mentoring and coordinating adjunct faculty; facilitating student success in academic, professional (work-related), and experiential learning environments; conducting recruiting and student outreach activities; collaborating with faculty colleagues across diverse academic disciplines at the campus and throughout the College; and other duties as assigned to support student learning and success.
Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.
Colorado Mountain College faculty are generally expected to stay relevant in their field, engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention activities.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally diverse environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, vendors and community members having diverse backgrounds.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
Salary range: $57,492 – $74,144 depending upon education and experience/teaching experience in higher education.
Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Natural Resources or a related degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Natural Resource Management or related environmental science.
A minimum of one year full time teaching/training, or equivalent as an adjunct instructor required. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
Preferred requirements: Graduate coursework in biology; environmental sustainability; ecology; geology; wildlife biology; or forestry, field supervision experience; grant writing experience; excellent oral and written communication skills; and previous full-time teaching experience.
