Job Description
Tenure-track or non tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at the Assistant Professor/Lecturer level. Primary responsibilities relate to teaching undergraduate Computer Science courses, including implementing effective teaching strategies and developing curriculum. Scholarly activity and university service are also expected. There will be opportunities to serve on and/or chair various department and university committees. This position is contingent upon funding.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach a variety of undergraduate computer science courses. The teaching load for tenure track is 24 semester credit hours per academic year and for non tenure-track, 30 semester credit hours per academic year. This may include teaching computer science courses for both majors and non-majors.
Scholarly activity that results in peer-reviewed publications for tenure-track faculty. Non tenure-track faculty have reduced scholarly expectations due to their higher teaching load.
Continually develop curriculum based on fluid industry standards.
Fulfill service opportunities within the department, college, and university, as assigned.
Participate in and support the department’s ABET accreditation program.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Doctorate (tenure-track) or Masters (non tenure-track) degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
Commitment to quality undergraduate education.
Strong evidence of excellence in teaching.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with faculty, staff, and students.
Strong evidence of potential research/scholarly activity.
A willingness to participate in the ABET accreditation process
A willingness to fully support and participate in SUU’s strategic plan.
