The Environmental Studies Program at Tufts University is seeking a part‐time lecturer to teach ENV 9 Food Systems in Fall 2025. This is an introductory-level class that meets twice a week on the Medford campus, days and times to be determined. The lecturer will be supported by a graduate Teaching Assistant for 8 hrs/week.

This course provides an introduction to the structure and functions of past, present, and future food systems. It enrolls students at all undergraduate levels and serves as the gateway course for the Food Systems & Nutrition minor. The course has typically examined real-world issues facing stakeholders in the New England food system and beyond, taking an interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes the material, social/cultural, political, and economic dimensions of food. Assignments should be designed to provide opportunities for students to reflect on their own knowledge about and involvement with the food systems they are part of. A syllabus is available upon request but we encourage applicants to tailor the course around their own strengths in the field.

Qualifications

·       Advanced degree or degree in progress in relevant field
