Virology and Systems Bioengineering Post-doctoral Position in the Dar Lab
The laboratory of Professor Roy Dar ( at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign focuses on the fundamentals and applications of biological noise in gene circuits and networks for decision-making, drug screening, and viral-host relationships. Dr. Dar is affiliated with the Biophysics and Electrical Engineering departments, and the Institute for Genomic Biology, so members of his research group gain valuable interdisciplinary experience. Current projects include biasing HIV decision-making and the use of synthetic biology to control mammalian gene expression fluctuations and cellular heterogeneity. Success in the research position will include writing competitive grant/fellowship applications within the first 12-18 months in the position.

A representative list of recent publications include:
Fundamentals of Noise, Gene Circuits, and Decision-Making:
(Weinberger et al., Nat Genet 2008; Dar et al., PNAS 2012; Bohn-Wippert et al., Cell Rep. 2018)
Noise Drug Screening and Modulation:
(Dar et al., Science 2014; Megaridis et al., APL BioE 2018)
Viral-Host Relationships:
(Bohn-Wippert et al., Nat. Commun. 2017; Bohn-Wippert et al., Cell Rep. 2018).
Integration of Genome-wide Datasets:
(Dar et al., Chaos 2010; Dar et al., PLoS ONE 2015; Bohn-Wippert et al., Nat. Commun. 2017)

Our lab currently consists of 4 graduate students and 8 undergrads. Postdoc and undergraduate alumni from our lab have obtained positions at top ranked industry and academic institutes.

The ideal applicant should have:
