Employee will work under the direct supervision of the PI and will perform biochemical, molecular biology and electrophysiology experiments. This activity will entail making cDNA mutations, purifying proteins, carrying out mammalian cell culture, fabricating glass micro-electrodes and applying these to cells to record electrical activity, and quantitative analysis of the activity patterns using computer software. Employee will interpret the results with regard to protein structure/function and synapse formation and development. They will be responsible for formulating the exact experimental protocols and writing up the results of the experiments and analyses for publication in scientific journals. Employee will also be expected to present the results at scientific meetings.
Ph.D. Degree in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Physiology, Pharmacology, Biophysics or a related field.
Experience in investigating neuromuscular synaptic development, receptor chemistry, structure-function analyses of proteins, binding of small molecules to proteins and/or the kinetics of transitions between different conformational states.
