The Department of Geosciences at Auburn University invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position in Geography beginning August 2023. The position is a one-year appointment subject to annual review based on performance, need for services and available funding. A promotion to senior lecturer is possible after five years of exemplary service. The department seeks an enthusiastic candidate who is committed to teaching excellence, actively engaging undergraduates, and able to teach our undergraduate geography courses.

We are looking for a broadly trained human geographer that has experience teaching large sections of global geography, human geography, and upper-division classes in their area of focus. We seek candidates who can create inclusive learning environments for our increasingly diverse student population. A commitment to active pedagogy, student success, and excellence in teaching from the lower-division to graduate level is essential. The teaching load will be three courses each semester. Other related duties include preparing course syllabi, grading, maintaining weekly office hours, coordinating GTA’s assisting the teaching, promoting Geography programs and recruiting majors, and participating in activities in conjunction with the Geosciences Department and College of Sciences and Mathematics. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a letter of application (1-2 pages) describing teaching philosophy, and experience, a statement of contributions to diversity in STEM (click here for more information), and the names and contact information of three professional references. Applicants are encouraged to visit the AU website to learn more about Auburn University and the Department of Geosciences (http://www.auburn.edu/academic/cosam/geosciences/). Review of applications will begin January 30, 2023, and will continue until a candidate accepts appointment.
