Assistant Professor, Biology (Tenure Track)

Responsibilities:
The Department of Biology at The University of Akron invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to carry out research in comparative or human anatomy starting with the fall semester 2021. The candidate should have the ability to: teach an upper-level cadaver-based human anatomy course (with laboratory) for undergraduate biology majors and pre professional students; develop an externally-funded research program that contributes to the UA Integrative Biosciences PhD Program, including both graduate and undergraduate researchers; ideal candidate will complement existing Departmental biomedical expertise and enhance the pre-med student experience
This position will also report directly to the Chair of the Department of Biology; teach introductory and upper-level courses as directed; develop a sustainable research program; engage in service activities to support the Department, College and University as assigned, including enhancing the pre-med student experience and submit grants to support their research.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree; ability to teach anatomy at the undergraduate and graduate levels (including an upper level Human Anatomy course)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postdoctoral research experience
- Strong publication record
- Demonstrable potential to develop an active research program
- Experience teaching Human and Comparative Anatomy and potential for undergraduate research activities. Preference will also be given to candidates with specific experience in teaching Human Anatomy.
