The Alonso Lab (https://bdi.unt.edu/ana-alonso) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to study the mode of action of Histoplasma, a project funded by NIH.
Histoplasma capsulatum is a human fungal pathogen. It causes respiratory and systemic disease by invading and replicating within macrophages. This project will identify the host molecules consumed by Histoplasma capsulatum while it resides within macrophages, which can identify novel avenues for therapeutic options to treat histoplasmosis. The approaches that will be used to address this question are metabolomics and fluxomics (mass spectrometry analyses and mathematical modeling). This work is part of a larger collaborative project funded by the National Institutes of Health.
