The laboratory of Dr. Ana Alonso in the BioDiscovery Institute at the University of North Texas is seeking for a highly motivated Post-doctoral Research Associate. This postdoc will study the function of candidate genes involved in lipid storage and stability in pennycress seeds, a promising alternative source of aviation fuel. More specifically, the postdoc will perform 13C-labeling in pennycress seeds, monitor the temporal labeling of central metabolism and lipids by LC-MS/MS, and build a mathematical model of the dynamic labeling. This is part of a new interdisciplinary project funded by the US Department of Energy for 3 years.
This work is part of a bigger project involving three labs at two different institutions. Therefore, good social skills and the ability to work within a team work are highly desired.
