Multiple Faculty Positions in Quantum Science and Quantum Materials

The University of Delaware is expanding its Quantum Science and Engineering research program, which includes significant computational and experimental efforts in Quantum Materials. The three positions to be filled this year include: 1) a theoretical/computational electronic structure faculty at the assistant or associate professor rank, 2) an experimentalist at the assistant professor rank, both in the Department of Physics and Astronomy; and 3) an experimentalist at the assistant professor rank in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Joint appointments commensurate with the candidate’s expertise are possible. Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to, development of ab-initio quantum many-body methods and their application to molecules and solid-state materials using high performance computing; two-dimensional and topological systems and devices; quantum transport; quantum photonics; photonic materials; spin-based qubits; emergent functionality in layered and heterogeneous materials; III-V quantum materials or platforms for quantum devices; and materials characterization such as ARPES or STM. Successful candidates will join a collaborative community of molecular, condensed matter, and quantum materials researchers with access to staff-supported state-of-the-art research capabilities including nanofabrication, electron microscopy, and materials characterization facilities, an epitaxial materials growth facility, and several supercomputers. We seek creative and innovative individuals who have demonstrated excellence in research and who will engage in high-quality teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Candidates must have a PhD degree in physics, materials science and engineering, or a related discipline.
