The School of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) invites applications for the position of Research Associate/Research Fellow.
The Research Associate/Research Fellow will help advance foundational knowledge in making polymer composite formulations for high performance stretchable waveguides. The Research Associate/Research Fellow will employ knowledge in polymer chemistry, composites and optics to develop novel polymer formulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop specialized polymer formulations with high stretchability, transparency, and low optical loss

Utilize 3D printing technology to create waveguides from the developed polymer formulations

Conduct comprehensive experiments to optimize polymer properties for waveguide applications

Collaborate with the team to integrate formulated polymers into functional waveguide structures
-
Characterize optical properties and ensure structural integrity of fabricated waveguides
Job Requirements:

Minimally Master’s degree in polymer science, polymer engineering, or materials science

Applicants with PhD preferred

4-5 years of research experience in polymer-related fields, inclusive of PhD study period

Expertise in polymer synthesis, particularly UV curable formulations
-
Proficiency in 3D printing techniques, especially for optical applications
-
Background in optical sensor assembly and testing
