This position has an anticipated start date of August 2022. Contingent on satisfactory performance and funding, it is anticipated that the position will be a temporary academic year non-tenure track appointment for two years with the option of extension for an additional year. There is no potential for promotion as the position is temporary.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Responsibilities</strong><br />The major responsibilities of the position are teaching at the undergraduate level, including organic and general chemistry. The teaching assignment will involve three to six classes per year. Core duties include developing curriculum aligned with Chemistry and Biochemistry Department standards; preparing lectures and reviews; developing student outcomes and assessments; developing and correcting exams; communicating with and responding to student inquiries; supervising teaching assistants, graders, and teaching fellows; and assigning final grades. <br />Depending on interest, the position could include some effort in research. Research would be conducted in the laboratory of one of the research active groups in the Department. The 9-month position will be fully funded by the department regardless of the distribution of teaching and research responsibilities. If research is conducted, funding for supplies in support of the research will come from the host laboratory. The host laboratory could provide up to three months of summer support for work performed in the laboratory.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Qualifications</strong><br />A PhD in chemistry or a related field is required. Previous experience teaching lecture courses beyond teaching assistant responsibilities is preferred.
