Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Proteomics and Protease Biology
Brömme Lab, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada

Area: Protease biology and proteomics
Duration: 1 year; based on performance can be extended for up to 3 years
Start date: Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled
Stipend: $45,000 Canadian per year plus benefits

Position Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and independent-thinking postdoctoral candidate studying the cellular ligase activities of protease. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Dieter Brömme and will use cellular, biochemical, protein chemistry, and mass-spectrometry-based proteomics approaches. The candidate will be part of a collaborative team. The minimum academic requirement is a PhD in a life science subject received not more than 2 years ago.

Qualifications required:

  • Candidate must have extensive experience in various proteomics technologies including being capable of performing LC-tandem mass spectrometry techniques (LC-MS/MS) and the appropriate data analysis.
  • Candidate must have extensive expertise in cell culture techniques (cell lines and primary cells).
  • Candidate is required to have expertise in various protein separation techniques (FPLC, HPLC, other chromatography techniques, electrophoresis, immunoprecipitation).
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written skills in English and have demonstrated the capacity to write research protocols and papers as well as to maintain meticulous research records.
  • Candidate must be independent yet collaborative, self-motivated, capable of creative thinking, and driven with a desire to pursue a career as an independent academic scientist.
