In 2013, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) jointly established the Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI) in Singapore, with the vision to set up a renowned ATM research institute, finding innovative solutions, and catalysing an ATM transformation in the region. ATMRI is currently leading cutting-edge research on ATM, with the vision to facilitate next-generation ATM by developing advanced AI and Data Analytics.

 

ATMRI is seeking to hire a Research Fellow to conduct research in the development of artificial intelligence methods and machine learned models to improve the performance, reliability and safety of air traffic system’s operations in the face of increasing demand for air travel and inherent uncertainties (for e.g. weather and delays) in the air traffic management (ATM) system.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in artificial intelligence methods and machine learned models.

  • Collect and analyze air traffic data related to the project.

  • Develop optimization algorithm and models for Air traffic management.

  • Run simulations and perform visualization and data analysis.

  • Develop prototypes and intelligent tools for Air traffic flow management.

  • Assist Principal Investigator with project management and lead/mentor research team.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with industrial and academic partners.

  • Publish in top conferences and journals

 

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in computer science, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.

  • Strong publication record in top journals (SCI Q1) and peer-reviewed aviation conferences.

  • Strong theoretical background in machine learning, computational intelligence and optimization

  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, MATLAB

  • Good English writing and communication skills

  • Able to work independently and be a team player.

  • Able to multitask between project and research work.
