The College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Buffalo is seeking applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor and Learning Outcomes Assessment Specialist. This is a 12-month (calendar-year) non-tenure-track position. In this position you will:

  • Work collaboratively with the faculty and senior administrators to ensure that assessment activities for each of the College’s degree-granting programs are in conformance with the standards articulated by The Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Provide support and guidance to each of the College’s academic departments around articulating, assessing, and reporting student learning and program outcomes. The incumbent will: -Assist departments with developing, maintaining, and conducting effective assessment activities and in the development or selection of assessment instruments, strategies and rubrics to measure program outcomes and the effectiveness of the curricula; -Provide faculty with guidance on Middle States standards and requirements as well as on best assessment practices in higher education; – Assure compliance with all Middle States standards; – Work with department chairs to assure follow-through on assessment protocols once established; – Propose plans for assessment of learning outcomes for new degree programs as they are developed; and – Coordinate with University Assistant Vice Provost for Educational Effectiveness as needed.
  • Serve as an instructional faculty member in one of the College’s departments. In the first year, the teaching load will be significantly reduced to offset the workload associated with ensuring that the College is meeting the Middle States Commission on Higher Education learning outcomes assessment expectations.
  • The instructional workload will be negotiated annually with the Office of the Dean based on progress toward meeting Middle States Commission on Higher Education standards. The standard course load for Clinical faculty is four courses per semester (eight courses per academic year) subject to adjustment for administrative responsibilities.
